Description
Training Aspirations has developed this Proof of Non Practising STMS Current Knowledge event. This event is designed for those who are STMS AB Non Practising.
This is a knowledge load up covering the new credentials framework, NZGTTM and Risk assessment.
Upon successful completion of this event, the participants will receive a certificate which can be used as proof of STMS current knowledge.
Why does a Non Practising STMS have to prove current knowledge
Under the health and safety legislation the company must ensure that staff remain current in their abilities.
TTM competency can be proven by:
- Holding an appropriate unit standard (US31962)
- Holding a current Waka Kotahi warrant (STMS AB NP)
- Or a company specific training program
NZTA has removed the warrant system, therefore there are no longer STMS Refresher workshops.
The NZTA warrant system allowed for a three yearly refresher of knowledge as an STMS. There is no refresher requirement for any of the unit standards, they are awarded for life.
It is up to each PCBU (company) to determine how they keep their staff current.
The Proof of Non Practising STMS Current Knowledge is one way that the PCBU can prove it has kept staff current.
Option for additional experience
In addition to the morning knowledge session, the STMS NP can attend an additional practical exercise covering the latest safe techniques when installing, maintaining and removing TTM at a worksite.
An STMS NP attending this exercise will find it beneficial as they will extend their knowledge and gain a better insight into the latest safe techniques when installing, maintaining and removing TTM at a worksite.
Note: There is no additional certificate provided for this optional exercise. The STMS NP will only receive the certificate proving STMS current knowledge (not current competence).
Who do we recommend attending this additional exercise
Anyone responsible for the oversite of STMS in the field, those developing TMPs and those completing audits.
Cost of Proof of STMS Current Knowledge
This is a 3.5hour session. Fee is $295(+GST)pp.
There is an optional exercise in the afternoon which is beneficial to those responsible for the oversite of STMS in the field, those developing TMPs and those completing audits. Fee for this additional exercise is $380 (+GST)pp.
