This is the new starting point for people joining the TTM industry. It includes a briefing, practice in a protected area and assessment on a live roading network.
The workshop includes a briefing on staying safe while working with TTM equipment, a practice of key tasks in a protected area and an assessment of those key tasks on a live road network.
This is NOT a Waka Kotahi TTM warranted role.
There is a unit standard for this role which is completed during this workshop: US 31958 Explain the role of and operate as a TTM worker on the worksite under temporary traffic management.
There are no prerequisites for this workshop.
A worker who works under supervision of an STMS to assist with installation, maintenance and removal of TTM.
Also includes anyone controlling traffic in alternating flow situations using approved controls (e.g. stop/go or stop/slow paddles, portable booms or manually controlled portable traffic signals).

As part of the career path for the TTM Industry the next step for a TTM Worker is the Traffic Management Operative (TMO) non-practising workshop.
You will require a hi-vis garment and safety boots.
Wet weather gear is required if rain is likely.
