TMO NP Workshop - US 31959
This workshop covers all of the knowledge needed for the TMO to be able to install, maintain and remove TTM out of the lane, mind TTM in the lane and complete inspection activities.

This workshop covers all of the knowledge needed for the TMO to be able to install, maintain and remove TTM out of the lane, mind TTM in the lane and complete inspection activities.
The TMO NP workshop covers the following topics:
- The TMO role (what you can and cannot do)
- Risk assessment and managing risks
- Knowledge of TTM guidelines and how to read a TMP
- Completing inspection activities
- Minding a worksite when Supervisor is absent
- Completing worksite checks and paperwork
- Briefing visitors
- Managing manual traffic controller (MTC) activities (stop/go, portable traffic signals, and priority give way)
- Dealing with common worksite situations.
Qualification
There is a unit standard which is completed during this workshop - US 31959: Demonstrate knowledge of stakeholder and operationalrequirements for temporary traffic management.
The participant's National Student Number (NSN) is required for the unit standard to be awarded. Contact us if you have any problems finding this.
Who it is for
This is a knowledge-based workshop building towards a practising unit standard for someone who will complete the following tasks on category A and B roads:
- Sets up, maintains and removes TTM for roadside activities (TMD F2.5) CATEGORY A ENVIRONMENTS ONLY
- Sets up, maintains and removes TTM for shoulder closures (TMD F2.7)
- Maintains a worksite with TTM equipment on the lane while the supervisor is away.
Note: The TMO will not be able to setup or remove TTM equipment which is on the live lane. - Completes Inspection activities.
Note: If the only activity the person performs is an inspection activity, then they should complete the Inspection learning block instead of the TMO learning block.
This is helpful knowledge for any person who is intending to be:
- an onsite supervisor on category A, B or C road environments or a supervisor for Mobile operations
- a Traffic Operations Manager
- an Assessor, TTM Planner, TMP Approver, TTM Auditor, Traffic Management Coordinator or Corridor Manager.

Refresher

Prerequisites
It is recommended that participants hold the following qualification before completing the TMO NP workshop:
- US 31958 Explain the role of and operate as a TTM worker on the worksite under temporary traffic management.
Note: The knowledge and skills covered in TTM Worker are not repeated again in TMO NP, STMS Universal, STMS Cat A/B NP or Cat A/B Practising.
